Custom Millwork & Furniture

Over the past twenty years, RSA has been involved in numerous addition and renovation projects for this restaurant, specializing in Italian seafood, located on highway 70 in Cherry Hill. Although the existing building was without architectural distinction, the existing restaurant was well known and very successful. The client’s goals were to expand the existing 3,000 square foot restaurant in order to develop a better entrance area, to provide more space for dining, and to create a more visible presence along the highway.

The design solution sought to wrap the existing building with a new layer of space used exclusively for dining and private function rooms. This new space masked the existing building, while a dramatic new roof design was used to expand the scale and visibility of the restaurant. Beneath this roof element, the new dining space and entrance were enclosed by a glass screen wall that made the life and vitality of the restaurant visible to the passing motorists.

Subsequent additions and renovations expanded the restaurant’s dining areas. A new bar was added with a retractable wall opening to an expanded outdoor dining patio and garden. The U-shaped bar was clad in blue watery glass to recall the ocean and thematically connect to the restaurant’s emphasis on seafood specialties. The bar also connected to a renovated banquet room continuing the seascape theme with a floating sky-like soffit and 12 foot high marble slab “waterfall” at its end. The most recent project has been the addition of a porte cochere of canvas “sails” at the restaurant’s entrance.
